Bandai Namco has confirmed Tekken X Street Fighter has not been canceledt’s. It just taking a backseat to Tekken 7 as the company doesn’t want to release all the fighting games at the same time.
When Tekken 7 was announced earlier this month, many fans were happy. They saved the announcement for EVO 2014 instead of revealing it at E3 2014. As positive as the announcement was, a small few were worried about the status of Tekken X Street Fighter.
Tekken X Street Fighter was announced back in 2010, but nothing has been announced for the game so far. Unlike with Tekken 7 which already has storyline details and has been announced to be built on Unreal Engine 4. Tekken X Street Fighter’s information has been vague and Bandai Namco has rarely mentioned the game in four long years.
Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed to Polygon that Tekken X Street Fighter “hasn’t been canceled, so please relax”. He said the game is still in development and is moving forward.
However, Harada mentioned releasing and marketing Tekken X Street Fighter has been a challenge. With Tekken 7 on the horizon and updates being made for Tekken Revolution, Soulcalibur: Lost Swords and Rise of Incarnates, Bandai Namco has its hands full right now.
At this rate, it looks like Tekken 7 could have a 2015 release date. As for Tekken X Street Fighter, you may have to wait an even longer time for that game to ever arrive…
