The White House shared a computer-generated picture of President Donald Trump wearing Master Chief’s armor from the Halo video games. In the image, Trump stood in his green suit in front of the White House. But people noticed something wrong right away. The American flag in the picture only had 40 stars instead of 50. People from all sides laughed at the weird post, but Halo fans were the most upset about it.
Master Chief is the hero you play as in the Halo games. He is a super soldier with special powers who saves humans from dangerous aliens. According to Daily Dot, a lot of gamers felt weird about comparing Trump to this character.
Some thought it was disrespectful to one of their favorite video game heroes. Master Chief has been around for more than 20 years and means a lot to people who love gaming. People on X went after the post almost immediately.
Gamers Roasted The Post Hard
It all started when GameStop made a joke about console wars ending because Microsoft said they would bring a new version of Halo: Combat Evolved to PlayStation 5 in 2026. The White House replied to GameStop’s message with the Trump picture and wrote “Power to the Players,” which is what GameStop always says. After these posts went viral, GameStop’s stock went up by more than 7 percent.
People on social media went after both the White House and GameStop for this mess. A lot of them talked about how bad the computer-generated image looked. Someone using the name @spectre0799 said, “Nothing more patriotic than the official white house account posting ai slop with the U.S. flag missing 10 stars.” Someone else with the username @NakaiCanon kept it short and just said, “Stay away from Halo, Trump.”
People complained for different reasons. Some felt like the administration was working way too hard to seem cool online. Other people just made fun of what happened. A user called @gurgx3 said the console wars were ending “not because one came out on top, but because microsoft burned xbox as hard as they could.”
Someone made a good point about mixing games with politics. The user @ShaunBolen said, “Ya know who LOVES this? The same dumbf*cks who said to ‘kEeP pOlitiCs OuT of GAming’ for the last 8 years.” This showed how strange it was that the White House was now making posts about video games.
Most people just could not believe what they were seeing. The user @hayasaka_aryan wrote, “Imagine telling people in 2016 that the White House is posting Trump Halo memes with Gamestop.” Even an account that usually posts about polls said, “I can’t take how f*cking cringe this admin is anymore dude.” The whole thing turned into a huge online moment that mixed politics with gaming and business in a way nobody expected.
