Sen. Bernie Moreno from Ohio has had enough of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s complaints about how Republicans are dealing with health care. He told her to either come up with her own plan or stop attacking everyone else who is trying to work on the issue.
“If this is something she’s passionate about, put pen to paper, write a bill, present an option,” Moreno said when he appeared on TV, according to The Hill. He made it clear that just pointing fingers is not helpful by adding, “Don’t just criticize what other people are doing.”
Moreno then made his strongest point when he said “this is not a one-man show that runs the United States Senate.” He was clearly tired of Greene going after House Speaker Mike Johnson and other party members over how they are handling health care problems.
Someone Finally Called Her Out
Greene has been going after Johnson pretty hard lately because he will not say exactly what Republicans plan to do about health care subsidies that are about to end. “Johnson said he’s got ideas and pages of policy ideas and committees of jurisdiction are working on it, but he refused to give one policy proposal to our GOP conference on our own conference call,” she said on X.
Greene, who had urged Trump to put USA first earlier, then took a sarcastic jab at the whole situation by writing, “Apparently I have to go into a SCIF to find out the Republican healthcare plan!!!” She was talking about those secret rooms where government officials look at classified information, which shows just how frustrated she is with the lack of clear answers.
Moreno stood up for other Republicans who are actually trying to fix things, especially Sen. Rick Scott from Florida. “Look, we have different Republicans. For example, Sen. Rick Scott, that’s brilliant on this topic, that has a lot of amazing ideas. But yeah, of course, we have to build consensus,” he said.
The Ohio senator knows it will take some time to get everyone on the same page. “It’s going to take three or four months to really bring a consensus to that plan. In the meantime, what are we going to do? Keep the government closed for three or four months every time that we have a policy debate? This is nuts,” Moreno told reporter Kaitlan Collins.
Johnson talked about the subsidies running out during a Monday news conference and called it a “serious problem.” He said the current system is not working well. “If you look at it objectively, you know that it is subsidizing bad policy. We’re throwing good money at a bad, broken system, and so it needs real reforms,” Johnson explained.
President Trump also shared his thoughts on Tuesday and did not hold back his feelings about ObamaCare. “ObamaCare, it never worked. It never will work. It’ll never be good,” he said. Trump thinks both Republicans and Democrats should sit down together to fix things.
“I think it’s a great time for the Republicans and Democrats to get together and make something that will work, and let the insurance companies make money. They’re entitled to that, but not the kind of money that they’re making,” he added. Senate Republicans have been backing Trump on many issues this year.
