More information about Toy Soldiers War Chest has been released. This time, the information pertains to the army of Starbright, the other army that has been announced along with Kaiser’s army. You can read more about the Kaiser’s army and general gameplay here.
The first thing you will notice about the Starbright army is that their toy box (the area you’re defending) is much more colorful and cheerful with flowers and giant mushrooms, as opposed to the bunkers, farmhouses and trenches of the Kaiser’s toy box. However, the color and cheer doesn’t stop with the area, but also extends to the weapons and the heroes.
Where Kaiser had hardcore cannons and machine guns, Starbright has bubble guns and a snail that launches gumballs. Where the Kaiser is fully decked out in heavy weaponry and running around like a soldier, Starbright just jauntily skips about launching cupcakes at people. Yes, cupcakes. Except that theses cupcakes have destructive power so great, that the whole screen changes color on impact.
Also, Starbright’s main vehicle is a flying unicorn that shoots glitter as projectiles. What’s there not to love? It’s also notable that it seems that when you use the bubble gun, you have to account for bubble drop (as opposed to bullet drop, and is thus much more rapid as bubbles drop faster) and you will also be able to heavily influence the trajectory of artillery rounds when in the air, just like you could with Kaiser’s.
The narrator made it quite clear that Toy Soldiers War Chest will have the most content of any Toy Soldiers game ever made and he emphasized that there will be four separate campaigns one for each army. He also notes that campaign missions can be played cooperatively through multiplayer.
Toy Soldiers War Chest is slated for release sometime in early 2015 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
