Falcom has officially revealed the remastered edition of the original Trails of Cold Steel for PS4. Named The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel I: Kai – Thors Military Academy 1204- this new version features a vast graphic improvement, including 60 frames per second and 4K resolution on PS4 Pro, a higher quality sound for the music, and a brand new high-speed mode that will allow players to skip sequences and go through field battles at four times the regular speed. The company already hinted at the release of remastered versions of the first two entries on the series on PS4 in their latest financial report, as well as a brand new game by the end of 2018, and now we have the details on the first of these projects.
Those who own Trails of Cold Steel III (still pending to release in the West) will be able to load their save data to unlock special costumes, MAX Bonding Points, and 300,000 Mira in a second playthrough. Not only that, but the owners of the original game on PS3 and PSVita will be able to load their save game in order to continue the adventure on the same point they left off.
Trails of Cold Steel follows the Class VII of the Thors Military Academy through their first school year, in which the group of aristocrats and commoners get to know the reality of the life in the Erebonian Empire and power struggle between the nobility and the working class.
