Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Odyssey With a Short Teaser

Earlier today it leaked out that the next Assassin’s Creed game would be Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.  The name and logo on retail merchandise may have forced Ubisoft to do an early reveal for the game as they’ve pushed out a short teaser video for the game.

Over on Twitter, the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account had a short message for fans:  “See you at E!” reads the tweet which can be found below.  The five second long tease goes ahead and confirms the setting of Ancient Greece that had been speculated on as it features what appears to be a Spartan kicking a man off of a cliff.  The scene looks somewhat like the one from 300, an action film from 2006 based on the Frank Miller comics.

It’s hard to tell if Ubisoft is going full 300 with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but we’ll apparently be seeing more of the game at E3 2018 where we’ll get a better picture of what’s to come.  Earlier rumors suggested that the game would be a sequel to Assassin’s Creed Origins, but it’s hard to tell who the main character is from this short tease.

It’s also hard to tell where and when Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will land.  The previous release cadence for the Assassin’s Creed series has been in the fall, but Ubisoft broke that beat by taking a year off ahead of the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins.  They’ve also got a different type of competition from another open-world title in Red Dead Redemption 2 so their launch window very well may be up in the air.  It would be expected that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
