Final Fantasy 15 sales were impressive for its debut over in the UK. However, the game was still not enough to dethrone FIFA 17 at the top of the charts.

GFK Chart-Track says Final Fantasy 15 had the second biggest launch in the series’ history over in the UK. Final Fantasy XIII had a bigger launch when it came out in the UK back in 2010.

Word of mouth is better for the 15th game over the 13th one. Not to mention worldwide sales are better for the new game as it’s selling quicker than any other title in the franchise. Over 5 million copies have been shipped already.

Despite impressive numbers for Square Enix, they occupied the runner up position. FIFA 17 continues to be the cream of the crop. It’s possible the game could stay on top during the Holiday season, although Dead Rising 4 and The Last Guardian could dethrone it.

Ubisoft gambled with Steep, but it didn’t get anywhere near the top. It only debuted at number 24 on the list. The game didn’t get much promotion, but it might sell better since it’s Winter right now over in the Northern Hemisphere. Overall, Steep became the 4th best selling Winter Sports launch in the UK.

The top 10 video games are:

1. FIFA 17
2. Final Fantasy XV
3. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
4. Battlefield 1
5. Forza Horizon 3
6. Watch Dogs 2
7. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
8. Pokémon Moon
9. Pokémon Sun
10. Minecraft: Xbox Edition

Since it’s now December, publishers will be swinging heavily to promote their games. Not to mention retailers are sure to offer attractive bundles for new buyers.

It will be interesting to see the type of games that people around the world get this Holiday season. There’s a lot of great games out now. 2017 is going to be even more packed with all the new releases just announced.
