No Man’s Sky came out just a few days ago and predictably, the game’s sales are impressive. It appears many PS4 UK gamers have been waiting to play it for a long time.
As noted by GFK Chart-Track, No Man’s Sky is Sony’s second biggest launch for a PS4 title in 2016. The biggest launch from a Sony published game is of course Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End back in May. It was also noted that in the UK, it was also Sony’s biggest launch for a new IP on the PS4 platform.
If you compare it against other new IP released on all Sony platforms, No Man’s Sky ranks number 5. It falls behind the likes of “Destiny (PS4), Watch Dogs (PS4), The Getaway (PS2) and The Last of Us (PS3)“. No specific numbers were given, but we can be sure lots of UK gamers are busy travelling the universe right now.
No Man’s Sky was the only notable new release of the week. Grand Theft Auto V had to fall back to the number 2 position. Thanks to the Rio Olympics, Mario & Sonic: Rio 2016 Olympic Games re-entered the video game charts. The Mario/Sonic game is the only official Olympics video game out for consoles this year.
