Sony and Naughty Dog have announced that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End sold over 2.7 million copies in just its first week. These numbers would be impressive for any game, but with Uncharted 4 being a PS4 exclusive, it shows how powerful the excitement was surrounding this title. Considering that it has also received glowing reviews from across the gaming spectrum, it seems like Naughty Dog has once again created an all-time great.

“Millions of fans around the world have already joined Nathan Drake on his final treasure hunt,” said Asad Qizilbash, Marketing Manager for SCEA. “In the first week alone, I’m happy to report that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End exceeded 2.7 million units in global sales*. For the North American region, Uncharted 4 is the fastest-selling PS4 first party title to-date.”

Of course, Naughty Dog and the Uncharted series are no strangers to this kind of success, with each of their last few games having sold millions of copies. The original Uncharted trilogy was a massive hit on the PS3, and The Last of Us spanned across both it and the PS4, selling millions on both platforms.

Uncharted 4 is billed as the final game in the series, though with sales numbers like this you couldn’t blame Naughty Dog for diving back in. Still, they are certainly working on something else for the future, so maybe we’re in for something totally new and fresh.
