Valve has just announced its plans for a “big picture” mode in Steam that offers controller support and navigation designed for television interaction.  The feature is set to be showcased at GDC.  And while the details were vague in the press release from Valve, it did give a few hints about what to expect at the conference.

“Big picture mode will enable gamers to enjoy Steam and their library of Steam games on more screens throughout the house.”

“With big picture mode, gaming opportunities for Steam partners and customers become possible via PCs and Macs on any TV or computer display in the house.”

Expect more details in the coming days as GDC gets underway.
