The questions surrounding Valve’s new VR Half-Life game have been answered by the developer.  Half-Life: Alyx doesn’t sound like it’s going to be Half-Life 3, but it IS going to be a “full-length” game and it will release in March 2020.  Valve has also offered information on price, setting and availability as well releasing the first gameplay trailer for Half-Life: Alyx. (which you can find below)

Half Life Alyx Release Date & Price

According to Valve, Half-Life: Alyx will be available to play on all PC-based VR headsets in March 2020 and will cost $59.99.  However, the game will be free for owners of the Valve Index VR headset.

The game will be set between the events of Half-Life and Half -Life 2 where Alyx Vance and her father Eli are forming a resistance to the Combine.  As expected, players will control Alyx as she fights to save the world and defend the future of humanity.

Half Life Alyx Announcement Trailer

A press release from Valve did release some comments from Gabe Newell, in which he said:  “Everyone at Valve is excited to be returning to the world of Half-Life”, says Newell. “VR has energized us. We’ve invested a lot of ourselves in the technology. But we’re also game developers at heart, and to be devoting ourselves to a VR game this ambitious is just as exciting. For that to come in the form of Half-Life feels like the culmination of a lot things we care a lot about: truly great games, cutting edge technology, and open platforms. We can’t wait for people to experience this.”

Fans of Half Life have certainly been waiting a long, long time for something new out of the popular franchise.  After a cliff-hanger ending in Half Life 2 Episode 2, gamers waiting for Half Life 3 has become somewhat of a running joke that ran so long that people just gave up on the idea of the game ever arriving.  While this is certainly not that given the setting, Half-Life: Alyx might be just what Valve needed to get back to the series.

Half-Life: Alyx is set to arrive in March 2020 for PC-based VR Headsets and will cost $59.99
