System Shock 3, the much anticipated sequel under development by OtherSide Entertainment, has added on a familiar developer from the franchise, in the form of Warren Spector.
Spector has been the Creative Advisor for the newly created studio since it was founded, while teaching classes at the University of Texas at Austin. Besides joining the team on System Shock 3, he will also begin development for another project titled, Underworld Ascendant, which acts as a spiritual successor to Ultima Underworld. The game was funded thanks to a Kickstarter that reached its goal of $860,000.
He expressed his excitement about returning to the franchise in a statement: Working on System Shock was one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done in my career and it’s hard to describe how much I’m looking forward to sharing with players what SHODAN has been up to since the last game was released.”
Warren Spector is very familiar with the series, as he worked on the original System Shock as a producer. I’m glad the long awaited sequel is getting a skilled individual, and I can’t wait to see what fresh ideas he’ll bring to the table.
