Nintendo is allowing their Gamecube controllers to connect to the Nintendo Wii U console. News was announced through Nintendo’s Twitter account along with a small little teaser within the latest Super Smash Bros. Invitational trailer.
Not too many details have been released yet for the adapter. We simply know that Gamecube controllers are able to connect to the adapter which accepts four controllers. No word has been released on pricing or even what video games will be compatible with the controllers. However, we do know that the upcoming Super Smash Bros will support the controller.
To some, this may seem strange having a controller supported over several years well beyond its consoles lifespan. Although, Nintendo has kept support for the controller on the Nintendo Wii and now it’s latest console the Wii U and if I had to give my opinion, I’m all for it. The Gamecube controller was a great piece of hardware that I’m personally more fond over than the gamepad or even the Wii controller lineup.
Once further details are released for the adapter, we will keep you posted right here on Attack of The Fanboy.
