Futuristic racing series Wipeout has made history this by making its first entry in the UK charts as the best selling videogame of the week in its 22 years of existence. The game responsible for the achievement is Wipeout: Omega Collection for PS4, which features remastered versions of Wipeout HD, Wipeout HD Fury and Wipeout 2048.
The original Wipeout game was a launch title for the original PlayStation console in 1995, and while it has enjoyed success in the more than two decades since then, it had never reached the number 1 position in the UK charts.
Wipeout: Omega Collection takes succeeds Tekken 7 at top of the charts, with the fighting game of Bandai Namco slipping to number 2 after achieving its first number 1 entry since Tekken 3. Despite falling a 45% in sales, Tekken 7 is able to resist the arrival of other new entries like Codemasters’ Dirt 4, which enters the charts at number 3.
Bethesda’s The Elder Scroll’s Online: Morrowind is the last new entry in the top 10, entering at number 9.
As for holdovers, Horizon Zero Dawn experience a new boost in sales thanks to a price cut, which propelled the game to the number 4 position. Check out the rest of the list below.
