Wolfenstein: The New Order was quite a surprise for many gamers this year. A story-centric first person shooter with no multiplayer? It hasn’t been the formula for success in recent years, but Machine Games and Bethesda bucked the trend with their recent release.

So should Wolfenstein fans be expecting a sequel? Machine Games is hopeful that they’ll get the opportunity.

Jens Matthies told Giant Bomb that “We would love to do a sequel… We have a very, very clear idea of what we accomplished with this game, and what we want to accomplish with a sequel.”

Does that mean Bethesda will greenlight the game? Not necessarily, but the great reception that The New Order received last month can’t hurt.
