A TikTok user shared a story about a birthday cake delivery that went wrong, and her account of the interaction with the shop left many viewers frustrated. The user, known as @alyssaachanel, said she ordered a cake for her best friend a week early to avoid any issues, but it never arrived on the scheduled Friday.
As detailed by The Daily Dot, the video has drawn over 2 million views and thousands of comments. The trouble started when she arrived at the restaurant for the birthday dinner and realized the cake was nowhere to be found.
The shop was closed for the day, so she could not reach anyone immediately. She decided to wait and follow up the next day, but she says she called the shop three or four times on Saturday and nobody picked up.
The shop’s explanation only seemed to make things worse
She says she finally reached someone on Sunday, the same man who had taken her original order. He reportedly apologized for the missed Friday delivery and admitted they had seen her calls going to voicemail the day before.
The user was not impressed by his response. “Thank you for stating the obvious,” she said, adding that she already knew the cake had not arrived and wanted to know why.
She claims he did not have an explanation. She then asked for the cake to be delivered on Monday for the actual birthday celebration, and she also requested a refund over the failed delivery, which was three days late.
According to the user, the man agreed to try to redeliver the cake but said asking for a refund was a bit too much. “It wouldn’t be anything at all if you just did your job,” she said.
Commenters were quick to side with her. One person argued that not receiving a paid service was also a bit too much, while another wrote, “Also…now you’re paying full price for (at least) a 3-day-old cake.”
Attack of the Fanboy was unable to independently verify the cake shop’s side of the story, as this account originates solely from @alyssaachanel’s TikTok video.
