Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Live Games with Gold for January 2016. These four titles are the first free games that Xbox Live Gold members will get for free as part of their membership, letting them download the titles and play them as much as they want, as long as they have an active Xbox Live Gold membership on Xbox One (Xbox 360 games are permanently added to your account).
The four games are Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition and Zheros on Xbox One, with DiRT Showdown and Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Xbox 360. Killer Instinct will be available for free for the entire month of January, with Zheros becoming available on January 16th and remaining so until February 15th. On the Xbox 360, DiRT Showdown will be free from January 1st to the 15th, with Deus Ex: Human Revolution taking its place on the 15th and running until the 31st.
This feels like a pretty decent month for the Xbox Live Games with Gold program, which has struggled a bit in the past with its offerings. Many times players have felt that the games are too old, and outdated, resulting in a lack of enthusiasm for what should be a big even every month. Killer Instinct is a solid choice for the program, giving players a fantastic fighting game that is currently exclusive to the Xbox One.
To compare these against the PlayStation Plus offerings for January, we’ll have to wait for official word from Sony on what their subscribers will be getting. That should come soon though, as these announcements are usually not too far apart.
