The early invites to the Battlefield 1 open beta are going out now for Battlefield Insiders to get in on the action a day early, though everyone will be able to join in with no restrictions tomorrow. However, after learning yesterday that PlayStation 4 gamers would not need a PlayStation Plus subscription to take part in it, Xbox One gamers were wondering if the same would apply to them.
Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case, as a fan reached out to the official Battlefield Twitter account asking about whether or not they need Xbox Live Gold to play the beta. The account replied with “Thanks for contacting us. You will need an Xbox Live Gold account to play Multiplayer during the Battlefield 1 Open Beta.”
Considering that PlayStation 4 gamers and PC gamers will be able to take part in the beta without being subscribed to a service, it seems kind of weird that they wouldn’t extend that to Xbox One. However, most people who would be interested in playing this thing already do have Xbox Live Gold or even PlayStation Plus, so it isn’t a deal breaker.
Battlefield 1 will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 21st.
