Xbox One Turns One Year Old with Crazy Stats and Some Giveaways

by Kyle Hanson

It’s the holiday season again, which means all of the consoles are hitting their first, or second in the case of the Wii U, birthday. The Xbox One was originally released in the US and other markets on November 22nd, 2013 giving it a few days before it hits the landmark. However, Mircosoft is already celebrating by releasing a bunch of insane stats that chronicle the last twelve months of Xbox One gaming. Along with this, they are giving away a ton of stuff to all Xbox One gamers, and holding multiple giveaways, the details of which are below.

The stats that Microsoft released are the usual fare, only becoming significant when you realize the sheer immensity of the numbers. Overall, gamers spent 2 billion hours playing games on their Xbox Ones. During this time they earned 11 billion Gamerscore, which averages out to 5.5 points per hour. Breaking down which achievements were earned the most over the last year, the top four were:

  • Forza Motorsport 5: Welcome to Forza Motorsport
  • Titanfall: Build Yourself
  • Destiny: Ship Rite
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts: Spatial Awareness

As far as giveaways, Microsoft has them in two varieties. There is the small stuff that everyone who has played on Xbox One in the last year will earn for free, and the big stuff that will be given away to random fans. Every Xbox One gamer will be getting:
