The week following Black Friday is logically a softer period of sales, although the main games of the season continue to have a strong presence in the countdown to Christmas. Call of Duty: WWII continues to lead the physical sales charts in the United Kingdom, consolidating its position as one of the best selling entries of the last few years, and becoming only the second game to lead the charts for five weeks, along with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, also from Activision.

Gran Turismo Sport continues benefiting from the recent discounts and bundles, and seems set to become the best selling PS4 exclusive of 2017 before the year’s end. Super Mario Odyssey also continues to perform well, passing in total sales to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and becoming the second best seeling Nintendo Switch title behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The only new entry of the week is Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which despite the weaker competition debuts low in the charts, entering at number 19. The Nintendo Switch exclusive still seems to be a niche property out of the league of other tentpoles of the consoles, but at least it improves its sales slightly from the previous game on Wii U. We gave the game an excellent review, saying “Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a delightful and fantastic JRPG experience. A long story full of adventure, character, charm, and whimsy will keep you playing for dozens of hours without breaking a sweat.”

Two titles that launched last week and deserve a special mention are PS4’s Knowledge Is Power and Hidden Agenda, which are part of the PlayLink initiative that allows multiplayer game simply using smartphones as controllers. Knowledge Is Power climbs to number 11 from number 14, and Hidden Agenda only drops one place to number 16.
