Sega has presented a new trailer of the upcoming Yakuza Kiwami 2 at Tokyo Game Show 2017. The video showcases how the original PS2 game has been remade using the Dragon Engine from Yakuza 6, and the result could not be more spectacular. Following the original plot, the game focuses on how the protagonist Kazama Ryu goes back to help his former yakuza group, the Tojo Clan, and ends up involved in a rivalry with rivals from the Korean mob.
As was the case with the excellent Yakuza Kiwami, this remake of the second entry will refine the original gameplay introducing more possibilities and resolving certain confusing plot points of the original story. For example, Kiwami 2 will alow players to take control of the fan favourite character Majima, and see certain omitted events from his perspective. The name of this brand new chapter is appropriately called “The Truth of Goro Majima.”
Additionally, the game will also include brand new features like the chance to play the fighting games Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtual On: Cyber Troopers on one of the game’s arcade shops.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 will launch for PS4 on December 7 in Japan, and it’s expected to release in the West in 2018. Watch the new trailer below.
