President Trump just delivered a massive warning to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, telling him straight up that he should be “very worried,” as reported by The Hill. The president made these strong comments during an interview, signaling just how high tensions have climbed between Washington and Tehran lately.
“I would say he should be very worried, yeah. He should be,” President Trump stated, making it clear that the regime’s leadership should understand the seriousness of the current situation. Just the day before, things got chillingly close to an actual conflict. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that U.S. forces had to shoot down an Iranian drone. The drone was taken out because it “aggressively approached” the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
The U.S. has already established a substantial military presence in the region, which has been significantly boosted by the arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln and its strike group in the U.S. Central Command (Centcom) area. The deployment also included additional fighter jets and cargo planes arriving in the area.
This serious military buildup definitely ratchets up the potential for friction, especially following that drone confrontation
President Trump also laid out his reasoning for the U.S.’s hardline approach. He affirmed that the U.S. is still backing the Iranian protesters, whose government has been using an iron-fisted approach to silence dissent. The president noted that the U.S. actions have severely impacted Iran’s stability. “We have had their back. And look, that country’s a mess right now because of us,” he said.
The president was quick to defend past military operations, specifically referencing the action known as “Operation Midnight Hammer,” which targeted three nuclear facilities in Iran. “We went in, we wiped out their nuclear,” he explained. “If I didn’t take out their nuclear, think of it, if we didn’t take out that nuclear, we wouldn’t have peace in the Middle East because the Arab countries could have never done that,” he added.
The president stressed that those Arab nations used to be “very, very afraid of Iran,” but that fear is gone now. “They’re not afraid of Iran anymore,” he said. He even mentioned the aircraft used, saying, “We wiped out those beautiful B-2 bombers, ones right over there, those beautiful little models.”
The president claimed the U.S. has intelligence indicating Iran might be trying to restart its nuclear ambitions. He said they attempted to return to the original site but couldn’t get near it because of “total obliteration.” However, they were considering setting up a new site elsewhere in the country. When the U.S. found out about the potential new site, President Trump delivered a threat to the regime, saying, “We found out about it. I said, you do that, ‘We’re going to do very bad things to you.’”
