GOP Rep. Randy Fine faces calls for his removal after making a bizarre statement about Muslims, and even Megyn Kelly is onboard

Florida Representative Randy Fine is facing significant backlash and calls for his removal after he posted a truly bizarre statement on X, comparing Muslim people to dogs. Even conservative commentator Megyn Kelly, known for her sharp takes, accused the congressman of going “full bigot” following his controversial remarks, as reported by The Hill.

Fine’s initial post stated, “If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one.” This comment immediately ignited outrage across social media and prompted congressional Democrats to demand his censure and resignation.

Megyn Kelly was quick to react, posting “wtf is this” in response to Fine’s original comment. Instead of backing down, Fine actually doubled down on his stance, replying to Kelly, “figured it out yet?” This definitely didn’t sit well with Kelly, who then delivered a scathing reply. “What I figured out, you pathetic sweaty man, is when an idiot Muslim says ‘no dogs in NYC,’ instead of attacking the person or the policy, you went full bigot,” she wrote, before telling the congressman to “F— off.”

Democrats are not going to let this slide, and they’re pushing for serious repercussions for Fine’s inflammatory remarks

The Florida congressman wasn’t done, though. When pollster Mark Mitchell criticized his statement as “not a good look,” Fine responded by posting a picture of a dog with the phrase “Don’t tread on me.” It seems he was trying to stand his ground, but it only fueled the fire.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, a Democrat from New York, strongly condemned Fine’s comments in a statement. Jeffries called the congressman “an Islamophobic, disgusting bigot.” He also publicly urged his Republican counterpart, Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana, to denounce the post.

Other members of Congress have also joined the chorus, calling for Fine to be formally censured. If the House votes to censure Fine, it wouldn’t just be a symbolic gesture; he could be stripped of his committee assignments. That’s a big deal, as he currently serves on both the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Education and the Workforce Committee, which are pretty important roles. Losing those would significantly reduce his influence in Congress.

Jeffries emphasized the need for accountability, stating, “Republican leaders must hold this so-called Member of Congress accountable.” He highlighted the concerning rise in “political violence, xenophobia and hate crimes against the Muslim community.” Jeffries made it clear that House Democrats “will not let the racist and bigoted behavior of Randy Fine go unchecked,” adding a stern warning that “Accountability is coming to all of these sick extremists when the gavels change hands in November, if not sooner.”

Another GOP politician, Governor Ron DeSantis, previously issued an executive order declaring the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a US civil rights and liberties group known as CAIR, a foreign terrorist organization, which attracted a ton of backlash.
