Vice President Vance didn’t hold back, declaring that both white nationalist Nick Fuentes and former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki can “eat s***” after they attacked his wife, second lady Usha Vance, as per The Hill. Vance made it absolutely clear in an interview that anyone who goes after his wife is crossing a major, unforgivable line. He stated, “Anyone who attacks my wife, whether their name is Jen Psaki or Nick Fuentes, can eat s***. That’s my official policy as vice president of the United States.”
Psaki, who hosts her own show on MS NOW, made really bizarre and frankly, pretty rude comments back in October. She joked publicly that Usha Vance needed saving from her husband. Psaki tried to frame the vice president as some sort of political villain, and she questioned what exactly was going on in the second lady’s mind, adding a weird, dramatic plea: “Please blink four times, we’ll — come over here. We’ll save you.”
However, Fuentes’s attacks were on a completely different level and are absolutely disgusting. Fuentes has repeatedly used racial slurs against the second lady, who is Indian American. He didn’t stop there; he even referred to the vice president as a “race traitor” purely because of their marriage. This is where Vance drew a firm, ideological line, too, stressing that ethnic hatred has zero place in the conservative movement.
The vice president made sure to portray exactly where he stands on the issue of bigotry
Vance emphasized, “Antisemitism, and all forms of ethnic hatred, have no place in the conservative movement. Whether you’re attacking somebody because they’re white or because they’re black or because they’re Jewish, I think it’s disgusting.” This outburst from Vance comes right as the MAGA movement is dealing with serious internal chaos stemming directly from Fuentes’s persistent antisemitic rhetoric.
It’s clear the movement is having a hard time figuring out where to draw the boundaries on acceptable speech, and Vance is trying to force the issue. The deep fissures within the conservative world were obvious over the weekend at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest gathering in Phoenix. We saw a major public feud break out right there on the stage.
Conservative media personality Ben Shapiro repeated his strong criticism of fellow right-wing host Tucker Carlson. Shapiro slammed Carlson for platforming Fuentes, calling that decision “an act of moral imbecility.” Carlson didn’t take that criticism lying down, of course. He hit back at the condemnation during the conference, dismissing the entire dispute as simply “denouncing and deplatforming.”
Even amid that heated drama, Vice President Vance tried his best to strike a unifying tone when he addressed the conference, which had a surprise appearance from Nicki Minaj. He walked a fine line during the ongoing internal criticism, choosing to focus on solidarity instead of the purity tests the other speakers were debating. He promised the attendees that he would fight alongside “all of you — each and every one.”
Vance also reminded the crowd that the success of the current administration relies on bringing people together, not pushing them away. According to him, “President Trump did not build the greatest coalition in politics by running his supporters through endless, self-defeating purity tests.”
