‘The Iranian regime is knowingly endangering innocent lives’: Centcom issues chilling warning to Iranian civilians

U.S. Central Command (Centcom) has issued a serious safety warning to Iranian civilians, letting everyone know that the Iranian government is actively using densely populated areas to conduct military operations, as reported by The Hill. Centcom took to X on Sunday morning, explaining that Iran’s regime is just blatantly disregarding the safety of its own innocent people.

According to Centcom, the Iranian regime is launching one-way attack drones and ballistic missiles from civilian areas. This decision is super risky because any locations used for military purposes lose their protected status. Under international law, those spots could absolutely become legitimate military targets, putting countless lives in jeopardy.

Centcom specifically pointed out that Iranian forces are using crowded areas in cities like Dezful, Esfahan, and Shiraz for these launches. They’re surrounded by civilians. Because of this, U.S. forces are strongly urging civilians in Iran to stay at home to protect themselves. This warning really highlights Centcom’s concern that the Iranian regime is knowingly endangering innocent lives.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has been talking about Iran’s ability to defend itself if the U.S. were to launch a ground incursion

Speaking on “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Araghchi made it clear that Iran believes it’s capable enough. He stated that they have “very brave soldiers, who are waiting for any enemy who enters into our soil to fight with them, and to kill them and destroy them.”

President Trump and other officials in his administration haven’t actually ruled out the possibility of sending ground troops into Iran. This adds another layer of complexity to the situation, especially when you consider Araghchi’s strong remarks about defending Iranian soil. It’s a conflict that could escalate in many different ways, which is a major concern for everyone involved.

Adding to the unfolding events, Iranian state media has announced that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been chosen by Iranian clerics as the next leader of Iran. An 88-member body of clerics made this decision following the death of his father, whom the U.S. confirmed it killed in an airstrike.

This leadership change could definitely impact the future direction of Iran and its ongoing conflict with the U.S., adding another significant factor to an already volatile situation.
