A dancing humanoid robot in China unexpectedly smacked a young boy in the face during a performance, then continued its routine as handlers struggled to stop the machine. The incident reportedly took place on March 21 in Shaanxi province.
As detailed by BroBible, onlookers were watching as the robot performed its routine, kicking and spinning inside a cordoned-off area. Then, without warning, the robot began to spin rapidly toward the crowd with its arms outstretched, connecting with a young boy in the face.
The robot did not stop. It continued through its routine even as handlers frantically tried to drag it away from the crowd, and finding an off switch proved more difficult than expected.
The handlers couldn’t stop it, and the internet couldn’t look away
The video quickly spread on X, drawing a flood of reactions from viewers. The difficulty the handlers had in containing the robot only added to the spectacle, amid a broader wave of viral moments involving malfunctioning machines, including a Florida man’s bomb squad encounter that also left bystanders stunned.
Social media users responded with a mix of disbelief and humor. One person wrote, “Just casually slaps the poor kid and dances away to add insult to injury,” while another said, “LOL, I never thought I would live to see a robot punching kids while dancing!!”
Others offered their own reads on the footage. “That was personal,” one commenter wrote, while another noted, “The child anticipated it, but there was no way out.”
The clip also renewed conversation around robot safety at public demonstrations, with one user adding, “Robot uprising also starts small, maybe a slap here, a kick there,” a comment that gained traction on X alongside ongoing public debate over viral tech controversies.
