Carlo Tritta, a 19-year-old man from Eastleigh, has been sentenced to 28 months in jail following a grooming case that began on the gaming platform Roblox. The legal proceedings concluded at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, where Judge Kieran Rankin addressed the defendant regarding his actions toward a 14-year-old girl.
It is clear that this situation escalated far beyond a simple online interaction, as the court heard how the victim was manipulated through a series of calculated steps. According to People, the investigation into Tritta began in August 2025 after the girl’s mother discovered concerning messages on her daughter’s phone. This discovery brought to light an 11-month history of contact that originated on Roblox before shifting to messaging services like Snapchat and WhatsApp.
It is incredibly alarming to see how quickly a platform meant for gaming can be exploited to move a child toward private, unchecked communication channels. While many users look into the Roblox company history to understand its massive growth and evolution, cases like this reveal the predatory tactics that can thrive within its social ecosystem. Tritta utilized various methods to maintain his influence, including flattery, gifts, and even sending food and a secret phone directly to the victim’s home.
From gaming to something way more disturbing
Detective Superintendent Rod Kenny of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary noted that the victim truly believed she was in a loving relationship. In reality, the connection was built entirely on coercion, control, and abuse. Tritta admitted to multiple charges, including making indecent images of a child, sexual communications with a child, and causing a child to watch a sexual act.
The primary motivation identified by investigators was the acquisition of indecent images, which highlights the predatory nature of his behavior. The situation worsened significantly after Tritta was initially arrested and released on bail. Despite strict conditions prohibiting him from contacting the girl or visiting her home, he traveled roughly 200 miles on two separate occasions to confront her. During these incidents, he caused criminal damage by breaking the doorbell camera and entering the home.
His attempts to interfere with the legal process were extensive, as he also sent cards urging the girl to drop the case and filed false reports against her family to social services, claiming the mother had drugs in the home. The impact on the victim and her family has been profound. In a statement read in court, the girl described feeling trapped and upset, noting that she is now scared to go downstairs at night.
Her mother shared that the family is constantly on edge and that their home no longer feels like a safe space. The victim is currently attending therapy to manage the fear and anxiety resulting from this stress. Judge Kieran Rankin emphasized the severity of the situation during sentencing, telling Tritta that it was clear early on the victim was under 16 and that his behavior had a significant negative effect on her and her family.
A spokesperson for Roblox stated that the company is deeply saddened by this troubling case. They reiterated that their policies prohibit child exploitation and that they have safety systems in place, such as limits on chat for younger users and tools to prevent image sharing. The company also confirmed that their teams work closely with law enforcement to support investigations when incidents like this occur.
It is a stark reminder for everyone to remain vigilant about online interactions, especially when gaming platforms are involved.
