Customer shows up after café closes to collect her order, then allegedly keeps banging on the door as workers hide inside

A TikTok creator named Jordan recently shared a stressful experience with a customer where she and her coworkers reportedly had to hide inside their café after the person arrived well after closing time. The video has already racked up 5.5 million views and thousands of comments.

As reported by the Daily Dot, Jordan explained that the incident took place when the café locked its doors for the day. Earlier that same day, a customer had called to place an order. Jordan claims that she told the customer the items were ready but explicitly stated that the order had to be collected before the the end time.

Jordan waited by the front entrance until the last minute, but when the customer failed to appear, she followed protocol by locking the doors and beginning the closing process. However, everything changed the moment she stepped toward the back of the shop.

She reportedly kept banging the door for 10 mins

She reportedly suddenly heard loud, aggressive banging on the glass door. Realizing the situation felt unsafe, Jordan instructed her staff to move away from the main floor immediately. They retreated to the back of the café, turned off all the lights, and stayed low to avoid being spotted through the windows.

this video always gets people mad! context: i took the first video to send to my manager chat (one of the other SL’s was outside) and the second part is the explanation. we are not supposed to unlock the doors for ANYONE after we are closed for safety reasons! #baristalife #baristatok #worklife #customerstories #customersbelike

The situation did not end there, as the customer reportedly continued the relentless behavior for about 10 minutes. While the banging echoed through the shop, Jordan noted that the customer was simultaneously calling the café phone line over and over again. Despite the staff staying silent and hidden, the banging only grew more intense. Eventually, the customer gave up and left the premises, allowing the staff to finally breathe a sigh of relief.

The response online has been overwhelmingly supportive of Jordan and her team. Many people are pointing out that the customer had a clear window to collect her order and simply failed to manage her time. One commenter wrote, “She was told what time she needed to be there and showed up late. That’s on the customer, not the business. There is no logical reason to be banging on locked doors over an order she failed to pick up on time.”

Other viewers focused on the safety aspect of the encounter, noting that the behavior crossed a line into dangerous territory. Someone commented, “Acting like that is inexcusable. People saying ‘just give her the bag’ no after hours it’s no longer safe. After hours it’s trespassing. See how she’s acting banging on the door? Who’s to say what she’d do inside the store.”
