Former New York City mayor Eric Adams found himself in a wild confrontation on a Dallas jet bridge, culminating in him telling a masked passenger to “go f— yourself,” as per Daily Dot. That’s not exactly the kind of exit you want captured on video, but the short clip of the mid-argument exchange immediately went viral, sparking massive debate online.
The footage, which was first posted on Reddit, didn’t show what started the argument, as it was recorded mid-exchange. It definitely captured the climax, though. The passenger was actively taunting Adams as they walked off the plane. She challenged him, saying, “Eric Adams, please punch me in the face. I would like if you punched me in the face.”
Adams, clearly fed up, shot back with the censored line and added, “I’m not the mayor anymore.” This part is factually true, as we had Zohran Mamdani swearing in as the New York City mayor earlier this month. When the woman countered with “F— you,” Adams leaned in and issued a truly bizarre threat. He told her, “You’re gonna see the Brooklyn in me.” Shortly afterward, the woman pushed past him and walked away, ending the confrontation.
You’d think after a public outburst like that, Adams might distance himself, but he and his team are standing firm
Spokesperson Todd Shapiro defended the former mayor, emphasizing that Adams is now “a private citizen and was harassed.” Shapiro stressed that the circulating clip is “selectively edited, lacks critical context, and misrepresents what actually occurred.” Adams himself later endorsed the coverage of the incident, simply quote-retweeting the story and writing, “Exactly.”
The confrontation followed Adams’ highly criticized announcement of a cryptocurrency project he claimed would fight antisemitism. That coin briefly spiked, then crashed hard, causing significant losses for many who invested in it. The internet definitely didn’t hold back, with Reddit users calling Adams a “criminal” and a “shameless grifter.”
The criticism quickly tied the jet bridge incident back to his failed financial venture. One person directly asked, “How’s that $3.5M you just stole?” Another added that his “memecoin scam victims would like you to ‘go f— yourself.’” Some users were even more direct, saying, “Bro you just stole 3.5M. They should have jumped your a–.” Some observers focused on the tone he used toward a woman, with one writer noting, “He’s always a tough guy with women.”
However, the best reactions were the jokes about his tough-guy talk. Several people mocked his comment about Brooklyn. One person joked, “‘You’re gonna see the Brooklyn in me’ is a wild thing for a New Jersey resident to say.”
You know, this kind of verbal sparring seems to be a trend in politics this week. Adams isn’t the only public figure who got caught up in a foul-mouthed confrontation. President Donald Trump was also caught telling a Ford worker, “F— you,” after the worker called him a “Pedophile protector.”
