Gigantic Indiana Jones prop goes off script and leaves Disney employee bloodied

A stunt malfunction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios left a park employee injured after a massive prop boulder veered off course during a live performance of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. According to TMZ, the incident unfolded in front of a full audience as the show recreated one of the most recognizable scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The boulder sequence is a centerpiece of the long-running Florida attraction, intended to simulate the film’s opening chase without putting performers or guests at risk. The oversized prop rolls toward the actor playing Indiana Jones along a preset path, stopping short of the stage area where spectators are seated. It is typically choreographed down to the second.

Initially everything appeared normal until the boulder abruptly changed direction. Instead of staying on its guided track, it veered toward the audience section, creating an immediate safety threat. Similar moments involving unexpected system failures have circulated online recently, including a Walmart shopper discovering a disturbing issue at self-checkout after noticing a wildly different total on the card reader.

This was not supposed to be possible

As the prop rolled out of control, a Disney employee moved directly into its path, apparently attempting to stop it from reaching the crowd. The worker was struck with significant force and knocked to the ground. Video circulating online shows the collision clearly, with the employee falling backward as the boulder makes contact.

The footage also shows blood coming from the worker’s head after the impact, prompting audible reactions from guests. The show was halted immediately, and the injured employee was attended to by staff. The incident raises questions about how the prop was able to leave its intended course.

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular has operated for decades and relies on precise mechanical systems and repeated safety checks. The situation echoes other recent viral stories involving unexpected outcomes in controlled environments, including an incident in which a bartender’s choice after a customer said she had “no preference” led to a shocking final bill.

TMZ noted that this incident followed several unrelated fatalities reported at the same location in a short span of time, adding to scrutiny around safety and operations. Though those cases were not connected to the stunt show.
