Passengers were settling in for a routine plane flight when a dispute suddenly turned into a mid-air brawl

A mid-air brawl broke out on a Biman Airlines 787 Dreamliner as passengers traveling from Sylhet to London found themselves in the middle of a physical fight. The incident took place on flight BG-201, turning what should have been a routine trip into a chaotic scene for everyone on board.

As reported by The Sun, footage of the event shows an intense confrontation between two men, with one individual in a hoodie grabbing the other by the neck and throwing punches. The situation escalated quickly, leaving other travelers to deal with the sight of men grappling and tearing at each other’s clothing. One of the men involved even had his black T-shirt ripped completely off his back during the struggle.

This entire mess reportedly started over a simple dispute regarding seat sharing. While the cabin crew eventually stepped in to separate the individuals, the video shows them appearing to freeze for a moment before they and other passengers finally intervened to stop the fighting. 

The airline did not take any action against them 

Despite the violence, Biman Airlines confirmed that no action was taken against the passengers once the plane landed at London’s Heathrow Airport. A spokesman for the airline stated, “Three passengers were involved in an ugly spat over seat sharing. The passengers later patched things up among themselves and we did not have to take any legal action.”

Because no formal complaint was filed, police were not alerted to the situation, and no officers were waiting at Heathrow Terminal Four when the flight arrived. This means that the individuals involved are currently still at large in the UK. 

While these types of offenses, which can include endangering the safety of an aircraft, could reportedly carry a sentence of up to five years in prison, the lack of an official report has kept the legal system at bay. So, legal action can not be taken against them. 

The Crown Prosecution Service noted that they cannot initiate a prosecution on their own and would require a referral from the police to take any action. A spokesman for the CPS explained, “We can only look at a case following a referral from police – we can’t start a prosecution on our own.”

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Biman Airlines has dealt with violence on this specific route. Back in 2022, seven passengers were reportedly detained by police at Heathrow after a similar brawl erupted on a flight from Sylhet to London.
