Most people have a common misconception that being a cop means you can get away with little rule-breakers. However, we have several cases that prove this thinking to be a myth. Speaking of that, a Houston police officer posted her rant video a while ago on social media. While it’s okay to rant about some topics to your audience, her video fell strongly towards racism. As a result, she’s under considerable scrutiny and could potentially lose her job.
If you are wondering what she could have possibly said that put her under severe scrutiny. Well, her rant wasn’t just limited to a single line; it was far more than that. As per the New York Post, in Texas, where a UFL head coach was arrested recently, a female officer named Ashley Gonzalez shared her offensive and racist remarks in a social media clip targeting ‘black people.’ Per Click2Houston, as this video has gone viral, it has come to the attention of the authorities, and as a result The Houston Police Department has relieved the cop from duties with an internal investigation pending.
In the clip, the officer can be seen sitting in the car and speaking out against black people in frustration. One of Ashley’s extreme comments was, “The amount of times I will always and forever say that I f****** hate (censored). I f****** hate you all.” She shared an off-duty incident involving someone whom she accused of stealing her purse, and she then mentioned calling them a racial slur after grabbing them.
The Houston Police Department has issued a statement condemning her offensive act
Ashley’s rant continued, she said, “Y’all don’t know how good it felt to say [racial slur] out loud. Oh my God, I felt like I was back in the Marine Corps. I felt like the world just stopped. It felt like peace.” According to her, it wasn’t the full rant as more of it wasn’t recorded. The video was from 2024, and after two years since posted, it has come to the police department, which has now shared a statement against Gonzalez.
It clearly says, “The Houston Police Officers Union is extremely disturbed by a video circulating on social media regarding an officer making offensive, racist comments. In no way does the HPOU or its leadership condone or tolerate racist behavior from any of our officers.” As a consequence, reports from KHOU say that Ashley is currently an employee of the department, but she is ordered to hand over her badge and the gun.
Being racist is, unfortunately, a problem that remains, and according to Charles Barkley, it is something every ‘loser’ wants to become. Once the final ruling is made, chances are that she’d be fired with no possibility of being hired again. From ranting about a certain group of people, she’d now be fighting for her job as a significant consequence of her actions.
