This man is accused of stabbing a 14-year-old girl at a mall, but details suggest it all started with a horrid smell

Poor girl!

Horrific incidents involving teenagers seem to be making considerable headlines lately. Following a 17-year-old boy who was shot by a man in the name of revenge, we have another story that involves a teenager. This time, a victim is a 14-year-old girl who was stabbed by Angel Ortiz, 23, over a joke about the way his body smells.

As per True Crime News, this shocking incident took place in a mall. It all started on an escalator, taking this girl and her friends. They then casually joked about one of them smelling bad, and just after saying it, they turned towards Ortiz. Tension began when they jokingly said that his body odor was bad. The 23-year-old didn’t go well with sarcasm and even yelled at the victim and her friends.

None of them thought that the story would take a horrific turn. After the escalator, Ortiz called out the 14-year-old girl and asked her to hit him. He asked her repeatedly, and when she listened, Ortiz then stabbed her with a knife. The authorities were called, and per NBC Philadelphia, the girl didn’t have any life-threatening injuries. Ortiz was then found at the nearby bus stop less than 30 minutes later.

Angel Ortiz said that he attacked in self-defense

All the details of how this incident happened were told by this unnamed victim in an interview in the hospital. However, Ortiz’s side of the story sounds quite different. Per the affidavit obtained by NBC Philadelphia, he said that the attack on the girl was in self-defense and said that the girl hit him first. Later, Ortiz even told the police that he was quite afraid, as per WXIN.

This claim from Ortiz seemingly turned weak as the investigation said otherwise. In the intel obtained by the witnesses and the surveillance camera, Ortiz appeared to be getting closer to the victim after the body odor joke. He was following her, and then he stabbed the girl after she hit him. The teenager was luckily enough to survive and ended up with wounds on her arms.

Angel Ortiz’s court appearance is scheduled for April 29. Additionally, he has been charged with several offenses, including aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, as well as harassment. Similar to a man putting a building on fire due to job loss frustration, this is just another example of how frustration can lead to shocking crimes.
