A pet is like a family member to all of us, and in an emergency involving these little ones, a vet is the person we trust most. But what if I told you that the person who is claiming to handle your pet with care could be the biggest threat to it? Well, something this horrific has taken place in California, where a woman is accused of practising veterinary procedures on the animals not only without a license but also without anesthesia.
As reported by People, the woman, Amanahy Becerra, is now in trouble after making false claims about her qualifications. She offered attractive prices to the owners and let them bring their innocent pets in. However, the investigations suggest that she didn’t even use proper anesthesia during her services, leaving the animals in severe pain. Per the Visalia Police Department’s Facebook news release, Becerra was arrested during an ongoing animal cruelty investigation.
Her false license claim already sounded disturbing, but the absence of anesthesia from her procedures makes it even more shocking. The authorities also mentioned, “As a result, multiple animals suffered serious complications and required emergency veterinary care. Sadly, one dog did not survive.” The woman’s arrest means a lot of animals will be free from her suffering, but an innoncent dogs has already left us.
She did many procedures on those poor animals that are illegal without proper credentials, and put it on social media!
The 24-year-old Amanahy Becerra performed “medical procedures on animals without proper qualifications or training,” and also posted them on her social media, per the detectives who dug deeper into this disturbing case. According to ABC 30, police spokesperson Liz Jones mentioned all the complex procedures Becerra performed on the animals, which are otherwise illegal without a license.
This includes C-sections, spaying, neutering, and ear-clipping. Imagine all of these without anesthesia; it must have been extremely painful for the innocent animals. Since she used to post her practices on social media, the police are requesting everyone to share any evidence they can gather. “It’ll help us tremendously. I mean, it’s physical evidence, it’s video evidence, it’s there on what she was performing illegally,” said Liz Jones.
We have plenty of examples like a dog solving an old mystery, which proves animals are man’s best friend, but with Becerra, they reportedly suffered. Vet charges can be a lot for some, and since Becerra was charging significantly lower rates, it looks like she managed to lure in many customers. The spokesperson also told CBS47 that the woman, despite her lower charges, reassured them by saying she is a trained professional capable of handling their pet. However, the reality turned out to be completely different.
Jones mentioned, “She was claiming to be licensed but she was not certified. She was not licensed at all,” and also shared an emotional statement saying, “The situation is very heartbreaking. I mean, dogs and pets are our families. They expect us to take care of them.” Liz is making a legit point; those innocent beings rely on us for their safety, but in the case of this 24-year-old woman, all of them seem to end up in pain.
Similar to a case where a man ended the life of her girlfriend’s rabbit, this woman’s actions also seem to fall in the animal cruelty category. All eyes are on the authorities who will decide Becerra’s punishment once the investigation ends.
