A TikToker who was simply trying to enjoy a drink at the Pfister Hotel bar in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, faced an absolute nightmare when they choked on a chunk of glass, leading to a month of frustrating silence from the establishment until their video went completely viral. This is seriously awful customer service, especially when someone’s health is on the line.
The person, who goes by KProminence on the popular video platform, was sitting at the bar when they took a sip of their drink through a straw. They immediately felt something sharp scratch the back of their throat, prompting them to grab their neck in alarm.
In a video that has since racked up over 149,000 views, KProminence detailed the terrifying moment as it unfolded. They exclaimed, “I’m really concerned,” telling viewers they had just swallowed glass at Pfister. They managed to pull out a “chunk” of glass that had come up through the straw, which is just stomach-churning to imagine.
It’s awful that a business thinks it can get away with this
After alerting the management, KProminence was told the hotel would file an incident report, and staff even called the emergency room for them. KProminence continued, “There should not be glass in my cup. And the fact that I felt it scratch my throat, y’all. They’re calling the ER.” The next clip shows KProminence sitting inside the ambulance on the way to the emergency room to be checked out for glass consumption.
Naturally, their immediate thought turned to the financial fallout, asking in the caption, “Who paying that ambulance and hospital bill??? Yall not tryna respond now.” Since KProminence felt a sharp edge and felt the glass scratch their throat, getting checked out was absolutely the right call. KProminence was taken to the hospital and received two radiation screenings as part of the evaluation. On-screen text in the video also claimed that the bar hadn’t even asked for their ID.
While the incident itself was shocking, the aftermath is where the hotel’s response really fell apart. KProminence shared in a follow-up video that for over a month, the Pfister Hotel had completely ignored their messages. They are still highly upset and stuck dealing with the medical bills. KProminence stated that the management initially offered to cover the itemized hospital bill when they first spoke, but that promise seemed to vanish into thin air.
It wasn’t until KProminence posted the viral video detailing the incident that management finally decided to act. They shared that after the video blew up, management reached out via email asking for the bill. Talk about the power of social media! Nevertheless, it’s truly frustrating that it takes public shaming to get a large establishment to address something this serious.
It’s not all dreary, though. We have had stories of bartenders looking out for their customers.
