Travelers pay hundreds in baggage fees for their belongings to be handled with care, but a viral clip from behind the scenes reveals a nightmare

It's luggage for you but a football for them.

Some airports and airlines have been drawing considerable public attention lately, but for all the wrong reasons. From taping the airplane’s wing to break dancing for a first-class treatment, we have heard a lot in a while. However, another leak of footage from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago is spreading online, making passengers think twice before handing in their baggage.

Recommended Videos

With Barstool Sports reporting first, the video has recently leaked and shows staff handling passengers’ luggage quite recklessly. As the conveyor belt moves, they throw suitcases and bags onto it like it’s the last day at work.

It’s not just one bag that was thrown harshly as an accident. From start to finish, the footage shows almost every suitcase being smashed over the mobile belt, which has raised concerns among the Chicago community, as it could damage their fragile goods.

It looks like an insider recorded this footage for fun. But now he might face consequences

All baggage is handled in a secure location, out of passengers’ reach. It seems fair because the airport does it for security reasons, but the way O’Hare International Airport handles things behind the scenes is indeed questionable. This video most likely came from an insider, such as an airport employee who might have recorded it for fun. Now that this video is going all over the internet, they can potentially lose their position due to the backlash.

The community is already bashing the airport, with a user commenting, “Imagine thinking it’s funny and you recorded your own evidence on why you are getting fired.” Similarly, another Instagrammer commented, “This is so disrespectful and it explains why suitcases be broken. Count days humans because robots is about to take your job.”

Well, apart from job concerns, one of the users has shed positivity as well, saying, “Ima need yall to use your brains why would they lightly sit your luggage down. It’s a damn airport. It’s 500 ppl loading on to the same plane in 45mins. This how that s*** go. Get hard luggage and move on.” They might have raised a fair point here, but the way the staff is throwing bags doesn’t go well if compared with other airports.

It’s true that baggage handlers often toss bags onto conveyor belts for efficiency due to tight schedules and hold designs, especially wheel-less ones, but it’s meant to be controlled to minimize damage. Now, all eyes are on the O’Hare International Airport for a response; otherwise, the backlash following this leak will likely continue.
