‘What?’: Woman chooses ‘no tip’ option at LA bar, then offers something else that leaves staff laughing

Can't pay the bills with that

A customer at a Los Angeles bar refused to leave a tip for the staff. Instead, she offered something completely different that left the bartenders shocked and laughing in disbelief. The incident happened at a West Hollywood bar where a country singer-songwriter named Diner works as a bartender. She posted a video about the experience that got more than 48,000 views on TikTok.

According to Bro Bible, two customers came into the bar and picked “no tip” when they paid their bill using the payment device. Bartenders and servers usually tell each other about customers who don’t tip so everyone knows what to expect.

After the bar’s last call, one of the women walked up to the bar counter. She told Diner’s co-worker that she was amazing that night. Then she said she had 4 million followers on Instagram and asked for the bartender’s Instagram handle so she could give her some attention online.

The customer thought Instagram followers were worth more than money

The co-worker is about 40 years old and has around 600 Instagram followers. She doesn’t really care about social media fame. Both bartenders just looked at each other and laughed, confused by the offer. “We both kinda, like, laugh. We both just go, like, ‘What?’” she recalled. This isn’t the first time something bizarre has left LA witnesses laughing in awkward situations.

That’s when the customer got angry and insulting. She told Diner, “At least I don’t have to work at a bar to pay my rent.” The woman kept going, saying that working in a bar meant Diner had failed in her career. She also called the bar a bad place.

These comments really upset Diner. Her parents own and work at a family restaurant, so she takes pride in service work. She’s also a musician who’s been in a year-long fight with her record label that stops her from releasing new music. Right now, she needs her bartending job to survive.

Diner said it took all her strength not to follow the woman outside and hit her. She had to remind herself it wasn’t worth it. In her video, Diner talked about the harmful thinking she sees in LA’s entertainment world. Many people in Los Angeles are already struggling financially, and government setbacks are making things worse for those trying to make ends meet.

She said Instagram and TikTok followers don’t actually matter and the city’s attitude is tiring. She told people to tip their bartenders and servers, saying there’s nothing wrong with having a job and paying your bills. Working at a restaurant doesn’t mean someone failed at life.
