Woman slams Chipotle after claiming she was ‘scammed’ out of a ‘BOGO deal,’ but the receipt tells a completely different story

Numbers are hard.

A woman who claimed Chipotle “scammed” her out of a buy one, get one (BOGO) deal during a recent promotion found out the hard way that viewers were quick to point out she actually received the discount. TikTok creator Audra (@audrabeann) posted a video, which has since racked up over 3.2 million views, detailing her frustration after what she thought was a denied promotion, as reported by BroBible.

Audra said a trip to the popular fast-casual restaurant left her feeling “disrespected.” She explained what happened in her car, clearly upset. “I just waited in line for this for 45 minutes for their buy one, get one burrito promotion they’re doing today, only for me to get to the counter, and her to tell me no,” she said in her video. “Girl, what do you mean, no?”

She showed the packed restaurant and the long line she had endured, noting she walked in around 3:15 PM. Audra was particularly keen on trying the new chicken al pastor, saying, “And, like, girl, the new chicken al pastor was fire… I was willing to wait for it.”

The whole ordeal just goes on to show that you should always double-check those receipts and maybe ask a friend for a second look

When she finally made it to the counter, Audra asked about the promotion. “Hey, happy Friday the 13th. Is it too late for the buy one, get one?” she inquired. Initially, a worker told her no, prompting Audra to push back. “I just waited in line for 45 minutes, and I can’t do the buy one, get one free?” she asked, to which the worker simply responded, “Yeah.” Audra, understandably surprised, then asked, “Really?” However, it seemed another worker stepped in at that moment, indicating she could use the promotion. She then proceeded to order two burritos, specifically requesting the Al Pastor Chicken for protein.

Back in her car, Audra reviewed her receipt, convinced she had been charged for both items without the deal applied. “I really thought my hard work paid off, only to get back to the car, check the receipt, and realize they did charge me for two items,” she stated. She even captioned her video, “Ok apparently @Chipotle hates their customers.” This is where things took a turn, because what she saw wasn’t quite what the receipt actually showed.

Many viewers quickly jumped into the comments section to correct her, pointing out that the promotion had indeed been applied. “Did you read the receipt? They charged you half price for each burrito. In other words, you got one full burrito free!” one person wrote, making it super clear. Another viewer echoed this, saying, “No one else noticed the receipt actually has the buy one get one deal on it…”

Based on the receipt Audra showed in her video, it definitely looks like she got the BOGO deal. Chipotle’s chicken al pastor burritos typically go for around $9.45 each. However, on her receipt, each burrito was priced at $4.45. This pricing strategy is pretty common for BOGO deals at Chipotle; instead of showing one item as “free,” they often split the total cost across both items, effectively giving you one free burrito.

These BOGO deals usually apply to entrées like burritos or bowls, not individual add-ons, and the chain runs them periodically, sometimes for a full day, other times for just a few hours. So, even though Audra initially thought she was denied, and despite potentially arriving late for the promotion, it appears the staff still applied the offer to her order. This, despite Chipotle’s recent PR nightmares with shrinkflation hitting everything we eat and drink, is not on the company.
