A former NFL player was shot during a dispute in Los Angeles, but investigators are now pointing to his love life

In recent times, we have heard of several former NFL players getting into significant trouble. While a former NFL player was hauled into custody for a sickening felony, another athlete is under tension but for becoming a victim of a shooting. Speaking of that, former Nebraska Huskers S Rickey Thenarse was recently shot in Los Angeles over potential love-life issues.

According to The Spun, TMZ reported that the reason was a dispute between Thenarse, his girlfriend, and the father of her child. Sources say that in LA, this love-triangle dispute took a wild turn, which ended with Ricky being shot. The bullet hit his stomach, which sounds alarming, but luckily, he is now away from fatal danger.

Michael J. Babcock shared this news in a tweet, saying, “Former Nebraska S Rickey Thenarse, who spent the 2011 preseason with the Seattle Seahawks, was shot (Thursday) morning in Los Angeles,” he added, “Thenarse was hit in the stomach, but is expected to be okay after he was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. Sources say there was some drama between RT, his GF, and the father of her child. A man and a woman were seen fleeing the area in a black SUV. No arrests have been made, and detectives continue to investigate.”

Rickey was rushed to the hospital in time and is now completely out of danger. If there had been any delay in moving him to the hospital, the situation could have been a lot different as stomach injury is quite sensitive. Thenarse himself has not given any statement on the situation or the reason for getting shot, but police are looking for the alleged attackers who escaped the area instantly in a black SUV.

Thenarse, although he doesn’t play in the NFL anymore, had an illustrious college career. He played in 51 matches starting in 2006, which helped him stand out as a promising player. He was eventually drafted by the Seahawks but was later released. Although he had stints in Seahawks training camp, he was unable to convince any team to sign him despite his potential.

Coming back to the shooting incident, it is yet unclear what actually brewed between the affected parties. With sources relating the incident to his love-triangle situation, more details would surely come out as the authorities are searching for the attackers. Although he survived, the outcome could have been much worse if he had been delayed in receiving hospital care.
