Brooklyn Beckham took his ongoing family drama to a new level on U.K. Mother’s Day. He skipped any public tribute to his mom Victoria Beckham. Instead he posted a sweet birthday message for his mother-in-law Claudia Peltz. He shared a photo on Instagram with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and Claudia who recently celebrated her 71st birthday.

According to TMZ, Brooklyn wrote “Happy birthday to the best mother in law. Love u so much and hope u had the most amazing day.” Nicola also honored her mother with a message of her own. She wrote “Happy Birthday to my mom! The pure fact that I get to call you mom makes me truly the luckiest ever.”

The timing of Brooklyn’s post quickly caught attention. The rest of the Beckham family spent the day celebrating Victoria on social media. David Beckham and their children Romeo Cruz and Harper all shared Mother’s Day tributes for her.

This family drama really isn’t calming down

David shared a gushing tribute featuring a throwback photograph of Victoria during pregnancy. He wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to the most amazing mummy. You are an inspiration in all the ways a mum should be to our 4 amazing children.” Victoria and David also took time to share tributes to their own mothers, Jackie and Sandra. Harper, their youngest, posted a sweet message expressing gratitude for her mom’s support.

Brooklyn’s silence comes as tension between him and his famous family continues to swirl. The drama has been brewing since Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz in April 2022, amid persistent rumors Nicola clashed with Victoria. Things really escalated earlier this year when Brooklyn publicly blasted his parents in a January social media post. It must be difficult for Victoria to deal with the situation. Being a mom already comes with its own pressures and includes constant “mom guilt.”

In that post, Brooklyn accused his parents of caring more about their public image than his marriage, which is a pretty heavy accusation. He also addressed a long-circulating wedding rumor, claiming Victoria interrupted his first dance with Nicola. Brooklyn said his mom danced “very inappropriately” with him in front of guests. This made him feel “uncomfortable or humiliated.” It happened during what should have been a special moment.

Brooklyn also claimed his mother canceled making Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute. Adding another layer to the allegations, he said family members called Nicola “not blood” before the wedding. He has reportedly grown increasingly close to Nicola’s family, even spending last Christmas with the Peltzes. He has also requested that his parents communicate only through lawyers, which is a significant step to take.

He was apparently “disheartened” when his parents posted public birthday messages for him, viewing them as “performative.”
