Ilia Topuria vows an early finish for Justin Gaethje at the UFC White House card, but his strange advice for Donald Trump is fueling the hype

He thinks his American opponent won't stand a chance.

Dana White’s White House event, the UFC Freedom 250, has been making headlines since it was announced. While there is some controversy around it, especially due to Colby Covington’s brutal snub from the event, there is news fueling the hype. Speaking of that, a UFC star, Ilia Topuria, has drawn the spotlight to himself by issuing a competitive warning to his opponent and bold advice to President Donald Trump.

This lightweight titleholder will be up against Justin Gaethje on Freedom 250, going live on June 14. As it’s still a little while until the showdown takes place, Topuria has already given Justin a warning. According to LowkickMMA, the Georgian-Spanish fighter believes his American opponent would be an easy target. In a recent interview with ABC, Topuria claims that Justin will lose early in the showdown and gave a humorous piece of advice to Trump, saying, “Don’t blink and come with your hair neatly combed… because it’s going to be quick.”

The fighter first admits that Justin is tough and an experienced fighter, then later says, “Based on his fighting style, how he comes out in every fight, I see it ending quickly, honestly. I see it similar to the Charles Oliveira fight because I don’t see him as someone who’s going to trade and then back up or fight while moving backward. I think he’s the kind of guy who offers a fight, and when you’re doing that, I think you’re making a mistake. Especially when you’re fighting someone like me who has so much technique. Yes, I think it’s going to be in the first round.”

Bringing Donald Trump into the conversation? It looks like Ilia has no choice but to stand by his words now

The UFC White House event is considered one of the most important UFC showdowns, as it will take place at the president’s residence. Fighters might be in a high-pressure zone with plenty of spotlight, and in this situation, trash talk and bold claims are only going to spark higher expectations for you. It looks like Topuria will have to stand by his words, as he has already asked Trump to watch him take down Justin, claiming it as a “blink and you’ll miss” showdown.

Well, Illia’s confidence looks fair as some analysis and stats go into the fighter’s favor when compared to Justin Gaethje. Topuria will be stepping into the ring with a perfect 17-0 professional record and an undefeated UFC run, while Justin sits at 27-5 with a battle-tested resume at lightweight. Similarly, Gaethje is 37 while the fighter who’s aiming to beat him earlier in the round is just 29.

Together, this makes Topuria younger, fresher, and statistically a more protected fighter. However, this doesn’t mean the fate of the fight is already decided. There’s still a while until the match begins, which leaves more time for both of them to train and get ready for the big day. Combining Topuria’s flawless record and Gaethje’s greater experience, the 17-0 record versus the 27-5 still leaves the winner uncertain.
