Khloe Kardashian spent years protecting Lamar Odom’s reputation, but her breaking point finally came when she threw a punch

Khloé Kardashian is opening up about the difficult years she spent married to Lamar Odom, including a moment when she says she punched him in the face, in the new Netflix documentary Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom. This tell-all show dives deep into Odom’s incredibly turbulent time in the spotlight, and Kardashian isn’t holding back on some of the hardest moments from their marriage.

According to unilad, the reality TV favorite and the basketball star tied the knot in 2009, just a month after they first met. Khloé was 25 at the time, and Odom was 30. They really seemed like the perfect couple, but things took a dark turn in 2013 when Odom’s previous struggles with addiction resurfaced. The situation became so difficult that Kardashian filed for divorce from her husband in December of that year.

Just two years later, she made the shocking decision to call off the divorce after Lamar was hospitalized following a near-fatal drug overdose. Odom was found unconscious at a brothel in Nevada, and Khloé rushed to be by his side. She chose to put the divorce on hold so she could fully focus on caring for him during his recovery.

That call she got? Yeah, no one is handling that calmly

Kardashian recalls the immense pressure she felt during this period. She describes how Odom’s drug use became a “dark situation.” “He would escape rehab and go on a drug bender and no one could find him. I was either looking for him in alleys, looking for him in motels. I remember needing to go to hotel rooms to clean up after him so housekeeping didn’t sell a story. I felt such a responsibility to cover this up, hold it together, and protect him,” she shared in the documentary.

The strain on their relationship was immense. On one particularly awful occasion, Kardashian received a phone call from a woman who claimed she had been sleeping with Odom. The woman didn’t mince words, telling her, “Hi, I’ve been f***** your husband. He is so f***** up and I need to get off this ride. Will you come pick him up?” It’s just awful to imagine getting a call like that.

After Odom was discharged from the hospital following his overdose, his estranged wife went above and beyond. She rented him a property right near her home in Calabasas and even hired him a chef and a caretaker. She was really trying to set him up for success. One day, when she went to check in on him, she “smelled crack” in the house. Her worst fears were confirmed when she went into his bedroom. This was the absolute breaking point for her.

“I just punched him in the face,” Kardashian confessed in Untold. The raw emotion is palpable as she explained her frustration, saying, “I just put my life on hold to f***** take care of you.” It was at this moment, after all her efforts and sacrifices, that Kardashian knew she had to prioritize herself. While critics might pin this on the “Kardashian curse,” the reality was a woman reaching her absolute breaking point.

She immediately refiled for divorce, and it was finally finalized in 2016.
