YouTube just made a huge change on TVs, and you’ll love it

Well, about time!

YouTube is rolling out a new interface for TVs that makes the app look cleaner and easier to use. This update is important for anyone who watches YouTube on a smart TV or streaming device. The TV app was starting to look old compared to the mobile and web versions. YouTube announced plans for this update back in October, and now it’s here for your living room.

The old TV version wasn’t bad, but it was behind the mobile app in terms of design and speed. The new interface makes everything on screen clearer and easier to find. This simple reorganization makes the platform feel modern again.

According to Android Police, the biggest change is how things look on screen. The video title has moved to the top of the screen, away from the playback controls. The main parts of the interface are now split into three clear sections, which makes it easier to find what you need quickly.

The new layout makes everything easier to find

The left side of the screen now shows the channel name and video description. The subscribe button is also there. The middle section is only for playback controls like pause, previous, and next. The right side has all the engagement options and settings, including likes, dislikes, comments, captions, and the settings icon. This setup is much better than the old layout.

YouTube is also adding new features that viewers will enjoy. Multiview support is coming for live sports, which lets you watch multiple games at the same time. Premium subscribers will get a special Display Mode for a more personal viewing experience. While the platform continues improving user experience, some creators have faced serious issues, like when a popular YouTuber was arrested in Miami.

The subscribe button will now stay visible on screen all the time, making it easier to support creators. The button will also change based on what you’re watching. For paid content, it will look different, and for upcoming live streams, it will say “Notify Me” instead. This smart feature makes the app feel more polished.

This TV update comes after YouTube improved its mobile and web versions earlier this year. YouTube has also been working on better video quality, including a feature that makes old 240p videos look better by upscaling them to 1080p. This is great for older videos that used to look bad on big screens.

These changes might seem small, but they will make watching YouTube on your TV much better. Google usually adds more small updates throughout the year, so this probably won’t be the last change. If you haven’t seen the new look yet, update the YouTube app on your TV. You should also update the mobile app to get the same new look on all your devices. Speaking of apps and privacy concerns, a bartender recently exposed payment app privacy risks that many people don’t know about.
