A 25-year-old daycare operator in Moore, Oklahoma, is now facing three counts of child abuse following a disturbing investigation into her in-home facility. Samantha Pearson was reportedly booked into jail on a $300,000 bond after authorities reviewed surveillance footage that captured her alleged mistreatment of children entrusted to her care.
As reported by True Crime News, according to an affidavit filed in Cleveland County, the incident stems from actions recorded through a surveillance camera. Investigators allege that Pearson, while changing the diapers of children aged 3 and 4, shoved wet wipes into their mouths to silence them when they began to cry. The affidavit notes that when the children attempted to spit the wipes out, Pearson was seen shoving them back into the children’s mouths.
The footage, which was reportedly captured by a home surveillance camera at the daycare center located near N Santa Fe Avenue and NW 6th Street, also shows Pearson slamming a child back onto a changing table when the toddler tried to crawl away. Following that action, she was seen and heard on the recording slapping the child with an open hand after getting the child dressed.
She reportedly left children in the care of her husband
The District 21 District Attorney’s Office officially charged Pearson with three counts of child abuse 25. The Moore Police Department handled the arrest, bringing a swift end to the operations at the home daycare. While the criminal charges are specific to the incidents captured on that June date, other parents who previously used the facility are coming forward with their own unsettling experiences.
Brittany Moser-Moxley, a mother who previously trusted Pearson with her own children for several months, expressed deep frustration after learning of the charges, News 9 reported. While her own children were not among the alleged victims mentioned in the current criminal complaint, Moser-Moxley said she had previously begun to question Pearson’s ability to safely care for children.
She recounted instances where Pearson would leave the children in the care of her husband without notifying parents, a decision that left them completely in the dark about who was watching their kids. Moser-Moxley also detailed a particularly frightening incident involving her son that eventually led her to pull her children from the daycare entirely.
She explained that she received a text message from Pearson regarding her son’s health. “She texted me, told me my son was turning purple and blue,” Moser-Moxley said. The mother described a panicked response, leaving her job immediately to reach the home, which was only about 10 minutes away.
Reflecting on the situation, Moser-Moxley emphasized the importance of parental intuition. “I trusted her with my kids,” she said, noting her irritation and disbelief regarding the allegations. “I can’t believe she did that to somebody else’s kids. How can you do that to somebody else’s kids? You should know better.” She added, “You need to get help. You do not need to be around kids. I trusted you, and parents trusted you.”
