Gunfire erupts inside a Connecticut mall, and the suspect is only 13

Police in Trumbull, Connecticut, have announced an arrest in connection with a December shooting inside the Trumbull Mall, with authorities confirming the suspect is a 13-year-old from Bridgeport. The incident was first detailed by Fox 61, which reported that no injuries were caused despite a gun being fired inside the shopping center.

The shooting occurred after Trumbull police received multiple 911 calls around 5:45 PM reporting shots fired inside the mall. Investigators said the incident began as an argument involving several teenagers walking through the upper level of the Macy’s store, where one individual allegedly produced a handgun and fired a single round, in a case as alarming as the recent mention of how Elon Musk would cover lawsuit costs for anyone who speaks the truth about Epstein documents.

At the time of the incident, the mall was preparing to close early due to an approaching snowstorm. Although the planned closing time was 6:00 PM, police said heavy traffic and a large law enforcement response delayed the shutdown, and the suspects had already fled before officers arrived.

The investigation led to an early morning arrest

Police said the investigation ultimately identified the 13-year-old as the alleged shooter. Detectives located him near his residence on a Friday morning and attempted to serve an arrest warrant shortly after 8:00 AM, at which point the suspect reportedly ran before being taken into custody. Due to his age, his name has not been released.

The teen faces several serious charges, including Attempted Assault 1st Degree, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree. Police noted that Attempted Assault 1st Degree is a felony offense under Connecticut law, a level of severity reminiscent of the recent lawmakers trying to tighten loopholes in U.S. law. This bill aims to shut it down.

Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home and recovered two additional handguns. Investigators are continuing to determine how the firearms were obtained and who they are registered to.

Trumbull police were assisted in the case by departments from Bridgeport, Monroe, and Fairfield. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
