A Pennsylvania teenager is accused of shooting both of his parents just one day after Christmas, leaving his mother dead and his father injured. The shooting took place inside the family’s home while the teen’s younger siblings were also inside the house at the time of the incident.
According to People, the police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on Garrison Road in Freeport Township. When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she later died from her injuries.
Authorities also discovered a man at the home who had been shot. He was transported to the same hospital for treatment and was later released in stable condition. Police confirmed that the two victims were married.
Police used helicopters and dogs to track down the suspect
Investigators identified the suspect as the couple’s 18-year-old son, Jarrod Noll. He is accused of carrying out the shooting while other children were present in the home. Police have not released further details about a possible motive, and the case remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together what led up to the deadly incident.
After the shooting, Noll ran away on foot. Police searched the area around the home but couldn’t find him right away. The Pennsylvania State Police started a large search operation and warned people that Noll might be armed and dangerous. They told the public not to approach him if they saw him.
The manhunt involved tracking dogs, helicopters, and officers searching through rough terrain on foot. Police worked around the clock to locate Noll. Law enforcement agencies have dealt with unusual criminal cases involving suspects going to extreme lengths during investigations. One day later, on Saturday, December 27, the West Virginia State Police found and arrested Noll without any problems.
Sergeant Richard Sizer from the Pennsylvania State Police explained how serious the situation was. “We used tracking dogs, we used helicopters, and we used police on foot searching rough terrain,” he said. “Obviously, when you have someone on the run with a homicide warrant, on the run with a gun, it is a huge danger to the community.”
He said having someone on the run with a homicide warrant and a gun creates a huge danger to the community. The quick arrest helped keep people in the area safe. Police departments across the country often face creative suspects trying to outsmart officers during their investigations.
The shooting happened outside the family home, even though Noll’s younger siblings were inside at the time. Those siblings are now staying with another family member. Noll is currently being held in custody in West Virginia until he can be sent back to Pennsylvania. He has been charged with homicide and attempted homicide.
