Jasmine Crockett paid a fugitive for security throughout her Senate run, but he was just shot dead after being exposed as a fake cop

How did he land this job?

A fugitive who worked security for U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett was shot dead by Dallas police this week, revealing several troubling details about his background. The man, publicly known as Mike King, was killed following a standoff with Dallas police SWAT officers.

Authorities say King drove into a hospital parking garage and barricaded himself inside his vehicle. Police used tear gas to force him out, after which he reportedly pulled a gun on officers. Then, he got fatally shot. Officials have not yet released his real name.

According to CBS News, King was a wanted man operating under several aliases. He was wanted for impersonating a police officer, a claim he allegedly made while running his business, “Off Duty Police Services”, which is an online platform that was supposed to connect North Texas officers with extra-duty jobs.

A fugitive with a fake cop persona somehow ended up guarding a sitting member of Congress

Images show King standing close to Representative Crockett at various events and along the campaign trail during her recent U.S. Senate race. Documents show that a person named Mike King received payments from Crockett for “security services” as recently as last year. Cases of people misplacing trust in fake law enforcement figures have surfaced in other incidents across the country as well.

King reportedly oversaw teams of security officers at several downtown Dallas hotels and at his church. Law enforcement sources also revealed that he drove a replica undercover police vehicle and used license plates stolen from cars outside a military recruiting office.

His background reportedly includes a criminal history, raising serious questions about how he managed to secure a high-level security role for a sitting member of Congress and coordinate extra-duty jobs for actual police officers. Both Representative Crockett’s office and the Dallas Police Department have declined to comment on the situation.

This news comes shortly after Crockett was defeated in the U.S. Senate primary by state Representative James Talarico last week. The political climate has been tense recently, with Trump’s moves to remove a sitting Republican also drawing significant attention across party lines.

During the final days of her campaign, her team ejected an Atlantic reporter from a rally, and in a separate incident, reportedly called police on a CNN journalist. No further details have been released at this time about King’s real identity or how he came to hold such a trusted security position.
