A mother from Utah has been accused of taking her four children and flying to Europe without telling their fathers. Elleshia Anne Seymour, 35, now faces four charges of custodial interference and removing a child from the state. Police say she believed the “end times” were coming and wanted to protect the kids.
On December 2, officers from the West Jordan Police Department went to Elleshia’s home for a welfare check. According to People, they found the house unlocked but empty. No one has been able to reach Elleshia since November 29, the day she allegedly took the children. Her coworker and a friend also couldn’t get in touch with her.
The Utah Department of Public Safety issued a missing and endangered alert on December 10 for the four children. The kids are 11-year-old Landon Seymour, 8-year-old Levi Parker Seymour, 7-year-old Hazel Raye Seymour, and 3-year-old Jacob Kurt Brady. Police don’t know what the children were wearing when they disappeared or where they were last seen.
She left behind evidence of her escape plan
Police found a notebook in Elleshia’s home that revealed her plans. The notebook included notes about getting rid of documents and phones and taking passports. She left a voicemail for one of the fathers saying she was in France with the kids. According to police, she said she was looking for a permanent place to live because she feared the “end times” were coming.
Elleshia shares custody of the children with two fathers. Police confirmed that neither father knew about her plans. They also found that she has no plans to return to the United States and has broken the custody agreement ordered by the court. This isn’t the first time families have faced holiday nightmares involving missing children.
Police found Elleshia’s car in a parking lot at Salt Lake City International Airport. Airport security footage showed her boarding an international flight with all four children on November 29. The one-way flight stopped in Amsterdam before arriving in Croatia. Cases like these show how far parents will go to hide children from authorities.
Kendall Seymour, the father of three of the children, started a GoFundMe that has raised over $12,000. He said he didn’t know the kids were missing until December 2. He plans to use the money for flights and hotels to pick up the children when they are found. He hopes to get them as soon as possible to reduce their trauma.
Kendall told a local news station that he didn’t know about Elleshia’s beliefs until recently. Someone found her TikTok account a couple of weeks ago with videos about her concerns. The West Jordan Police Department and the FBI are working together on this case.
