New Need for Speed Rivals details have been revealed by EA. They uploaded the above video to one of their YouTube accounts, with fresh news on their latest game in the Need for Speed series.
Need for Speed Rivals is the spiritual successor to Hot Pursuit, the 2010 hit, complete with the returning idea of ‘pursuit tech’. The video, consisting of an interview from Gamescom, details the improvements to the ‘weapons’ of the game, including EMPs and roadblocks, that can be used to hinder racers or evade the police.
You can also hear more about how Speed Points have changed from the previous editions in the NFS series. They now have to be ‘banked’ in order to be stored; being busted by the cops or wrecked by another racer will zero your Speed Points. The tiered leveling system for the police side is also briefly covered.
Need for Speed Rivals will launch on November 19th in North America and November 22nd in Europe for Xbox 360 and PS3. It is listed as a launch title for Xbox One and PS4, though it’s unclear yet whether it will be a timed exclusive for PS4, which hits stores on November 15.
