Prior to E3 this year, information leaked about something known as Mario Maker, but we did not know much about it at all. Then we were introduced to it a bit during their Digital Event, but still haven’t got to see too much about it yet. However, that changed tonight as a way to kick off The Game Awards straight from the man himself, Shigeru Miyamoto.

After being introduced by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, Miyomoto talked for a bit about Mario before bringing up Mario Maker, which led to a brand new world premiere trailer for the game.

Within this trailer, we see how players can easily switch back and forth between multiple 2D Mario game styles, including the original, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and even the New Super Mario Bros. series. Adding obstacles anywhere possible, either in advance of running through the stage or while playing through. Even better, players can do this by using the Wii U GamePad courtesy of the stylus.

This looks like it will be quite a unique Mario title and with the popularity of games like Minecraft these days, it seems perfectly timed. You can check out the full intro and world premiere trailer for the game below:
